Vacant positions in the Georg-Speyer-Haus will be posted on this Webpage.
Graduate Student Position
A PhD student position is available from October 2010 in the group of Dr. Martin Zörnig. Our laboratory is interested in apoptosis and cancer research, and the project will focus on the function of FUSE Binding Protein 1 in Hepatocellular Carcinoma (Rabenhorst et al., Hepatology 2009).
We offer the possibility to be trained in interesting working techniques (including mammalian cell culture, viral transduction and analysis of mouse models) in a stimulating and cooperative working atmosphere.
The position will be financed by a scholarship from the Graduiertenkolleg 1172 (GK1172; please visit http://www.grk-1172.de; payment is equivalent to BATIIa/2) and implies a training program in tumor biology and biologicals).
Please send your application (including CV, letter of motivation, name and address of two referees) by mail/email to:

POSTDOC POSITION (m/f)
A postdoctoral position is available immediately in the Lausen-Lab at the Institute for Biomedical Research (Georg-Speyer-Haus) in Frankfurt/Main. We are working on epigenetic mechanisms in the hematopoietic system and on the regulation of transcription factor activity during differentiation.
The successful candidate will perform basic research on the biology of chromatin modifying complexes by ChIP, will use lentiviral transduction of primary cells and colony forming assays in the mouse model. Candidates should have experience in epigenetic and/or hematopoiesis research.
We offer exciting projects in a stimulating environment with enthusiastic people, who like to work in a cooperative manner.
Applications should be sent by Email to:

POSTDOC POSITION
The Lohrum-group is seeking a highly motivated Postdoc with interest in genomic and bioinformatic cancer research.
Our research team is interested in tumour suppressor mechanisms of the p53-protein family in the post-genomic and epigenetic era. We are applying modern genomic and molecular techniques to study the tumour-suppressor mechanisms of the p53-family in healthy as well as cancerous cells (Smeenk et al, 2008; Koeppel et al, 2009).
Applicants should have experience in molecular and genomic research and/or bioinformatic expertise.
Please send your complete application (CV, letter of motivation, name and address of two referees) via email to:

POSTDOC POSITION in STEM CELL RESEARCH (m/f)
The PostDoc position which is available from April 2010 will be part of the newly found group of Dr. Michael Rieger. The project will focus on the regulation of human hematopoietic stem cells in normal hematopoiesis and leukemia. Leukemia may arise as a consequence of misregulated hematopoietic stem cell function and finding differences between normal and malignant hematopoiesis will unravel novel therapeutic options. Clinical collaborations with the Frankfurt University Hospital Cancer Center are ongoing. With a large spectrum of cellular and molecular biology methods, state-of-the-art cell sorting and novel time-lapse imaging and single cell tracking technologies (Rieger et al., Science 325, 2009; Kimura, Rieger et al., Blood 114, 2009) central questions in human hematopoiesis will be addressed.
Candidate Requirements
Highly motivated candidates with an outstanding university degree in biology or a related study, and a successful PhD (with international publications) will gain from a young dynamic environment with scientific excellence. Fascination for modern biomedical research and enjoyment in experimental work are more relevant than previous work experience. However, a strong background in stem cell biology, immunology or cell biology might be of advantage. Experience in FACS analysis/sorting or imaging technologies will be beneficial. A research visit abroad is possible due to many international collaborators.
Benefits
The salary is based on TV-H13. The position is initially limited to 1,5 years with a highly realistic option for prolongation.
