The company analyses suitable projects regarding their actual potential to attract companies active in pharmacy or health care. For projects selected, Vision7
tries to obtain all necessary intellectual property. If this was possible, short project plans are generated in an "economical language". These outlines
are used to get in touch with decision makers in big companies to discuss possible realization of the project. Eventual contracts on a given project are closed
between Vision7 and the interested company on the one hand, and Vision7 and the academic institution on the other. Therefore, Vision7 sees its role as both the
driving force for the project and a mediator protecting the interests of the scientists as well as the industry.
Currently, Vision7 holds a number of patents or exclusive licenses in the fields of retroviral gene transfer, virology and gene therapy. In co-operation with a
big German health care company, Vision7 is pioneering an innovative gene-therapeutic strategy in the treatment of AIDS. Another project on the improvement of
suicide gene transfer technologies has been recently granted by the German Ministry for Education and Science (BMBF) within the BioProfile program (BioregioN).
